Season Review

2008 Review

Overall 2008 proved to be one of the most productive years for quality sportfish. The end of the runoff produced good numbers of smaller Barra's in the rivers, but some real monsters around the rocky headlands. The Queenfish, Fingermark and Grunter (Javelin fish) produced many a memorable session with grunter to 6kg a regular capture. The ever present GT's, Spanish Mack's & Tuna were of good size and in numbers.

The second half of the season saw some trophy size coral trout (especially on poppers) and record catches of Nannygai. In between the wind, which seemed to hang around this year a little more than usual, the big reds really fired. Quality reds 8 - 13kg in good numbers turned on almost every week.

I have fished all my life and I have never experienced anything that compares to the excitement and hilarity that took place this week. The people and the fish are some of the friendliest in Australia

Upcoming Season

The government has placed new regulations on Commercial fishing in the rivers of PCB. The Kennedy, Bizant and Marrett rivers will be closed to gill nets as from July 2009. The move should increase the numbers of fish for the coming seasons.

So if you're looking for sport fishing for a variety of species second to none, then a charter aboard the MV Boomerang II in the magnificent PCB is for you. With Boomerang Sport Fishing you will keep coming back.
